“To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.” Revelation 1:5-6 NKJV
Love was the formal cause. Washing from the guilt of sin in His blood was the result.
Jesus loved us before time and has died a sacrificial death to redeem us from our debt to sin within time.
But what else was the result?
He has made us to be kings and priest to His God and Father.
The priestly king after the order of Melchizedek has loved us and washed us to be a kingdom of priests.
We are made kings by King Jesus in that we have received a kingdom which cannot be taken away. We reign and rule with Christ because we are joint heirs with Christ, being united to Him, our Head. By His merit, He reigns and rules as King and we inherit His benefits and appropriate them to ourselves.
We now own the power of kings having the power of the Holy Spirit living in us. Through Christ, we have power over the world, the flesh and Satan. We are clothed in the holy attire of the King in all of His righteousness. We shall sit upon the throne with Christ and will receive a crown of life. We are more than conquerors through Jesus Christ, our King.
“To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.” Revelation 3:21 NKJV
We are made a kingdom of priests as well. We offer up spiritual sacrifices of prayer, praise and thankfulness. He gives us a contrite and broken heart to turn from sin and He sanctifies us to offer our lives as living sacrifices for His kingdom. He gives us intercessory prayer to utter for the people in His kingdom. Our bodies are the temple of the living God, being united to Christ.
To Christ Jesus be glory and honor and dominion forever and ever!
He alone is worthy of such praise and adoration. He is the one to whom we owe our debt of gratitude.
We were once enemies and Christ, but He has loved us and exalted us to be seated with Him in the heavenly places. He has made us kings and priests to His God and Father.
Blessed be the name of the Lord, forever. Amen.
